Sick, Injured or Abused Wildlife

If you find a sick or dead bird, leave the bird alone and report what you have found to the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline 1800 675 888. Find out more about H5 avian influenza (Bird Flu).

If you believe the sick or injured native animal is not suffering from Bird Flu, local veterinary clinics, local animal shelters and wildlife services can assist. Also:

Wildlife carers are trained to help injured native animals. Council is not responsible for the management of wildlife in the municipality and is unable to provide a wildlife rescue service. Please call Wildlife Victoria on 03 8400 7300 to alert a local carer.
