Items Accepted Free of Charge

The Whitehorse Recycling and Waste Centre accepts the following recyclables free of charge:

  • Cardboard only (no paper or cardboard tubing)
  • Batteries (domestic and car batteries)
  • Cooking oil (up to 20 litres)
  • Fluorescent tubes (domestic quantities only)
  • Glass bottles/jars (clear and coloured)
  • Aluminium (cans, pots, pans, window frames)
  • Steel (whitegoods, guttering, roofing, bikes and appliances)
  • Other metals (copper, brass, stainless steel)
  • Electronic waste including anything with a cord or battery and medical devices (smoke detectors are not accepted)
  • Paint (up to 100 litres) - for accepted products please visit Paintback 
  • X-rays (small quantities)
  • Bikes (collected and donated to Brainwave Bikes for reuse)
