When you’re out and about in Whitehorse this Christmas and New Year, don’t forget to bring along your reusable shopping bags.

Did you know that as of November 2019, the Victorian Government banned retailers from supplying lightweight plastic bags? The ban includes degradable, biodegradable and compostable bags.

Building Better Bag Habits 

In response to the ban on plastic bags, Whitehorse City Council is encouraging the community to build better bag habits.

Everyone forgets sometimes, so make it easy on yourself by keeping bags in your car, by the front door or stashed at work so that you always have some on standby. 

With better bag habits, remembering your reusable bags will become second nature.  Before you leave home, remember: ‘Bag, wallet, keys and phone’.
