EOI Domestic Animal Management Advisory Committee Membership

The Domestic Animal Management Plan Advisory Committee (DAMPAC) is a committee established by Whitehorse City Council to provide feedback and guidance on the development, implementation and review of the Whitehorse Domestic Animal Management Plan (DAMP). The Committee supports Council in meeting its obligations under the Domestic Animals Act (Vic) 1994 by bringing together community and stakeholder perspectives on responsible pet ownership, animal welfare and community safety.

 

DAMPAC members meet a minimum of two times per year, and serve a 4 year term (as outlined in the Terms of Reference).

After this date, shortlisted applicants will be contacted to progress to the formal application stage.

All successful candidates must complete a screening process before being endorsed by Council.

Objectives 

The Whitehorse DAMPAC:

  • Provides advice on responsible pet ownership, integrated animal management planning, and community education initiatives.
  • Contributes to the review and evaluation of domestic animal management .
  • Advises on the activities required to be achieved in the Whitehorse DAMP.
  • Shares knowledge to encourage better practice, and supports Council in fostering positive outcomes for animals, their owners, and the wider community.

Applicant Assessment Criteria

Committee applicants will be assessed according to their interest, knowledge and expertise relating to their:

  1. Experience in animal related services such as training, boarding, veterinary practice, compliance or other professional or commuity animal related roles.
  2. Involvement in domestic animal matters through pet ownership (e.g., fostering, volunteering, community programs, companion animals or industry participation).
  3. Knowledge of domestic animal-related legislation, guidelines, codes of practice and the Whitehorse DAMP.
  4. Views about responsible pet ownership.
