Councillor update from Cr Ben Stennett
One of the things I enjoy most about representing Walker Ward is seeing people come together at the many local events that make Nunawading and Mitcham such great places to live.
It was fantastic to see so many families enjoying the Heritage Week Family Day at Schwerkolt Cottage. This is always a special event, bringing our local history to life and giving people of all ages the chance to enjoy one of Whitehorse’s most treasured heritage sites.
As we move into November, I look forward to joining the community for the Remembrance Day service at Halliday Park in Mitcham. It is always a moving occasion and an important opportunity to pause, reflect and honour those who have served and sacrificed for our country.
November will also see the return of the St John’s Fete, another wonderful local tradition. Events like these rely on the hard work of volunteers and are a great reminder of the strong community spirit we have across our neighbourhoods.
I’m also looking forward to the Mitcham Twilight Markets returning to Britannia Mall. The markets have become a great way to enjoy a relaxed evening locally, support traders and catch up with friends and neighbours.
I hope to see many of you out and about over the coming months. As always, please feel free to stop and say hello or get in touch with any local ideas, concerns or suggestions.
