Whitehorse Disability Advisory Committee

Whitehorse City Council values the contributions people with disability, their families and carers make to the health and wellbeing of the community, through participation in a broad range of social and economic activities.

The Whitehorse Disability Advisory Committee is an advisory Committee to Council whose purpose is to:

  • Provide strategic input regarding systemic, structural, cultural and social barriers important to the lives of people with disability.
  • Ensure that the Disability Action Plan remains reflective, responsive and relevant to both the community and Councils.

Through an expression of interest process the Whitehorse Disability Advisory Committee is appointed for a four year term.  Members of the Whitehorse Disability Advisory Committee include people with lived experience of disability, family members and representatives from local disability and mental health service providers. An elected Councillor chairs the Whitehorse Disability Advisory Committee and the Committee is supported by Council’s Community Development Department.

The current term of the Whitehorse Disability Advisory Committee will conclude in 2021.
